• Click on ‘Link Aadhar’ on the official website of Income Tax e-filling portal

• Enter the PAN and Aadhar number

If PAN is linked with another Aadhar, then a pop-up message will be displayed informing the same After completing the PAN and Aadhar validation, there are mainly three types of scenarios:

       1.Payment Details Verified on E-Portal After Making Payment on NSDL Portal

                            1.Pop-up message “Your payment details are verified” will be displayed, after validating PAN and Aadhar     

                            2.Click on ‘Continue’ and submit the link request

                             3.Enter the required details as mentioned

                            4.Click on ‘Link Aadhar’

                           5.Validate the 6-digit OTP received on the registered mobile number

A message will be displayed, mentioning you can check the link status of PAN and Aadhar.

      2.Payment Not Verified on E-Portal

Complete the NSDL portal payment process after seeing the pop-up warning "Payments details not found." Payment must be made in advance in order to submit the PAN-Aadhar link request. Once the payment has been made through the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) site, the link request must be submitted within 4 to 5 working days. 

    3.Under this Scenario : A message will be displayed ‘Payment done earlier for this PAN has already been used for Aadhaar -PAN linking’. Submit the PAN-Aadhar link request after 4-5 working days from payment of fee on the NSDL portal.

Linking via SMS

PAN-Aadhar can be linked via SMS as per the Income Tax department. Send SMS from the registered mobile number to 567678 or 56161 in the format- UIDPAN<Space><12-digit Aadhaar><Space><10-digit PAN>

 Fees Payment on NSDL portal under Major head (0021) and Minor head (500) for AY 2023-24

The following are the steps to link PAN and Aadhar through NSDL portal:

• Visit the tax payment page of the official website of the Income Tax department

• Under the Non-TDS/TCS category, select Challan no./ITNS 280

• select head ‘(0021)’ and then ‘(500)’, on the screen

• Select the payment mode

• Enter the details, such as PAN, address, assessment year, etc.

• Make payment through debit card, credit card, net banking  or any authorized bank HDFC Bank, Axis ,PNB, Bank of India, SBI etc.

• Submit the link request after 4 to 5 working days.
